The Legacy Self-Assessment
10 honest questions about what will remain after you are gone.
The Final Question
When the work is done, the only question that matters is: were you faithful?
Most entrepreneurs measure success in revenue, square footage, and portfolio. The steward measures in lives developed, mission advanced, and what outlasts him.
This assessment evaluates the four dimensions of true legacy: people developed, succession planned, eternal investment, and the testament you are leaving.
Each question is rated from 1 (Not at all) to 5 (Significantly).
1. I am currently mentoring at least one person with intentional, structured investment in their growth.
2. I can name 3-5 people whose lives have been significantly shaped by my investment in them.
3. I have begun thinking concretely about who will succeed me — in family, business, and ministry roles.
4. If I died tomorrow, my business has the leadership in place to continue without me.
5. I have written (or begun writing) a Legacy Letter to my children — beyond a legal will, including values, beliefs, and blessings.
6. A meaningful portion of my time, talent, and treasure goes to purposes with eternal significance — not just temporal accumulation.
7. My children can articulate the non-negotiable values I am transmitting to them — not just from words, but from how I live.
8. I think about my decisions in terms of generational impact, not just immediate return.
9. I have spoken intentional, formal blessing over my children — at meaningful moments and with deliberate words.
10. I am building institutions, relationships, or works that I expect to outlast me — and I am stewarding them with that horizon in mind.
